PrologueLONG BEFORE WE KNEW

Some love stories begin with a first meeting.
Ours began long before we ever knew each other’s names.

In the 1990s, our families lived side by side in Galle. They shared more than a neighbourhood—they shared a friendship that quietly became part of both our lives. As a young boy, Chiran was dearly loved by Isuri’s mother, who cared for him with the same warmth and affection she would later give her own daughter.

As the years passed, our families followed different paths, and life carried us to different places, through different experiences, and into different chapters. Without either of us knowing, our story had already begun long before we were old enough to understand it.

Then, on 1 July 2023, a simple message asking for a home location became the first words we ever exchanged. It was an ordinary conversation that quietly marked the beginning of something extraordinary. What followed was a journey between Galle and Kandy, filled with conversations that never seemed long enough, adventures that became cherished memories, and countless moments that slowly brought two separate lives together.

Looking back, we have come to realise that our story did not truly begin in 2023. It began many years earlier—in the friendship between two families, in the kindness of hearts, and in the quiet ways life sometimes brings people together when the time is right.

Some paths are simply meant to find one another.

And ours finally did.
